9/11 American Airlines Flight Attendant
Barbara 'Bobbi' Arestegui, 38, of Marstons Mills, Mass., worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines for 13 years, and had recently switched from international to domestic flights.
She was working on American Airlines Flight 11, en route from Boston to Los Angeles, when it was hijacked and crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center on September 11th.
'She was so special, with a smile for everyone,' friend and fellow flight attendant Gretchen Sarmanian said at Arestegui's memorial service.
The petite Arestegui, Sarmanian said, was small enough to fit into the tightest corner of the tiniest airplane galley -- an advantage working with a large crew. She was 'such a bundle of energy,' Sarmanian recalled.
Bobbi grew up as one of five sisters in Hawthorne, Calif., a Los Angeles suburb perhaps best known as the hometown of the Beach Boys. She graduated from Leuzinger High School in nearby Lawndale in 1980.
Bobbi's sister Vickie, said Barbara enjoyed music, cooking, gardening, animals and knitting.
Bobbi, who was single, is survived by her mother Rosie, and four sisters.
