The staff of the 1980-81 Pylon is proud to honor Glenn Malin for his never-ending, multi-faceted contribution to Leuzinger High School. We call this a dedication and the word certainly fits when referring to the work of Glenn Malin. As head of the Science Department, he has worked to expand class offerings and obtain metric equipment. He also sponsors the fall balsa wood bridge bust. Science is not the only avenue of involvement of our honoree. Every year he takes budding young photographers under his wing and affords them the unique experience of learning and practicing film developing and enlarging techniques In a campus darkroom of his own design. This group is called the Focal Club and it owes its existence to Mr. Malin.
His interest in photography is made evident with the invaluable service he lends to the yearbook staff and athletic efforts. Many team photos and excellent action shots are the product of Glenn Malin’s considerable picture taking skills. Whether it be for the football or basketball game programs, or the Pylon, we have all cause to count on photographs with that certain Malin quality.
Being well-known as a photographer is not enough, however. Ask any student who has taken his class, and they will remember Mr. Malin for his great sense of humor. We’ll, he tries anyway. Actually, there are few, if any, members of the Leuzinger family more universally appreciated. His cheerful, positive, consistent attention to service to students and staff of Leuzinger High School , makes Glenn Malin a most valuable asset to our school and a most logical choice for this year’s dedication. On behalf of all Olympians, we thank Mr. Glenn Malin.
