Less then five months after the events of 9-11, U2 took the stage for a somber uplifting Super Bowl XXXVI halftime performance. The band opened with "Beautiful Day," and as the gang played "Where The Streets Have No Name," a scrolling backdrop showed the names of all the victims who died in the attack. Amongst those names was Barbara Arestegui of Leuzinger's Class of 1980 who perished onboard American Airlines Flight 11...
U2's Bono knows how to get out of the way and let the music speak for itself when it's needed. The September 11th rememberance-fueled performance is a primary example. It was one greatest Super Bowl halftime shows of all time.
