Wieland Norris Killed While Saving Others in Vietnam
Wieland Clyde Norris - Class of 1961 July 12, 1943 - June 03, 1970
His tour of duty began on April 24, 1970.
Casualty was on June 03, 1970 in THUA THIEN, Vietnam
Hostile, Ground Casualty. His body was recovered.
Wieland was born to Ray and Wilma Norris. Half Cherokee half Irish, the family moved to Kansas and finally to Torrance, California.
He had a two brothers Aaron Norris and an older brother who became Chuck Norris, a very successful Martial Arts Competitor, actor.
Many Chuck Norris' movies are dedicated to this hero.
Wieland paid the ultimate price in Vietnam on June 3, 1970. He walked point alone and drew out enemy fire so that others in his platoon could fight their way out to freedom. Many souls were saved on that day because of his bravery. He is the recipient of a posthumous Silver Star.
Wieland is buried at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes CA.
