Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Ersek was found on the ground with a gunshot wound in front of a liquor store Jan 8 about 7:40 p.m.
He was taken to a hospital where he remained on life-support until his death Jan 13 at 10:58 p.m. According to preliminary coroner's records, Ersek was shot in the face; however, it was later found that he was shot in the neck.
The coroner's office had no other information about the case. The Times has contacted investigators to obtain more details about the investigation and will post an update as soon as possible.
