To the younger and even some of the older generations, the Beatles live forever. There are groups around the nation reviving the sounds of the Beatles. Seltaeb, Beatles spelled backwards, happens to be one of those groups.
Seltaeb is a group of four Leuzinger students who are very much into Beatles music. Members of the band are Rich Castillo, bass guitarist; Tony Diaz, drummer; Carlos Ibanez, lead guitarist; and Orlando Salazar, rhythm guitarist. They portrayed Paul, Ringo, George, and John respectively.
The group formed about two months ago, after both Castillo and Ibanez left their former band "Open Air." Castillo and Ibanez were into Beatles Music and decided to try something new like forming a group and performing Beatles songs.
Although the group hasn't done much performing, they played at the Lawndale Civic Center on May 17. Today, they will be performing at Mark Twain Elementary.
In the two months they have been together, they have learned about 20 songs. To really get into it all, they have mastered the British accent, and almost have the style and motions of the Beatles down pat.
They practice every possible moment in Castillo's garage which has everything from lighting to a stage. To keep in practice, they do performances for family and friends.
