September 15, 1943 - November 29, 2020
James was born at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica, California. Â He passed away at home in Hawthorne, California. Â He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Pamela, his step brother Dennis Hudson, uncle Raymond Nichols, aunts Mildred Handel and Marian Mirable, and numerous nieces and nephews.
James (Jim) spent the first ten years of his life in Modesto, California. Â The family relocated to Southern California in the early fifties where his father found work in the aerospace/defense industry. Â Jim graduated from Leuzinger High School where he was active on the stage crew. Â He went on to El Camino College where he spent five years on the stage crew. Â He invited a fellow Leuzinger graduate, Pamela Anderson, to a cast party and they married three and a half years later. Â After Baywatch was broadcasted on television, he enjoyed telling friends and coworkers that he married Pamela Anderson.
He returned to Leuzinger High School as stage manager in 1967. Â He later moved to maintenance and worked at the various high schools in the Centinela Valley Union High School District.
Jim was an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks serving twice as Exalted Ruler, once of Hawthorne Lodge and once of Gardena Lodge.
He was a member of several magic clubs and an accomplished magician of close up magic.
He served his church as Deacon and Elder.
Jim and Pam enjoyed traveling by car, bus, train, ship and riverboat. Â In 2012 they cruised westward from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Venice, Italy. Â During that trip they took the land tour to the Taj Mahal.
They belonged for a time to a square dance club which they enjoyed so much they invited their widowed mothers to the clubs square dance class.  (It was there that Jim’s mother met Jim’s step father George.)
A memorial service will be conducted via ZOOM. Â His ashes will be shattered at sea at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution to one of Jim’s favorite Elk and church charities would be appreciated.
