Ronald Michael Cerda - Class of 1978

On Saturday March 26th 2016 Ronald Michael Cerda passed away at home. He was 56 years old.
Ron was born on October 1st 1959 in Detroit Michigan. He grew up in Lawndale CA where he attended Leuzinger High School. Ron played some football and was on the gymnastics team, and in Leuzinger Olympians Class of 1978. He graduated from Leuzinger High School in 1978. Ron was involved in Drama, Dance and Track and Field.
Ron joined the Air Force in 1978. His primary specialty was Tactical Air Command & Control Craftsman. He served his country for 20 years and retired from the Air Force Honorable in 1998. He earned many medals and ribbons during the time he served.
In 1998 after retiring from the Air Force Ron moved to Lancaster CA with Ramona, who he met in 1996. He married Ramona in 1999 at a chapel in Big Bear Lake CA.
After his military career he started working as a civilian at Edwards Air Force Base, first as Senior Technician for Tybrin corporation, then as Range Control Officer for the Air Force Flight Test Center.
In 2006 Ron and Ramona moved to Modesto CA and in 2014 they moved to Chico CA. During these years Ron earned Certificates of Appreciation from many volunteer programs, including Amnesty International, Yosemite Conservancy and National Geographic Society.
Ron not only loved taking care of his five cats Tito, Max, Josie, Flaps and Peaches, but also took care of many stray cats.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Ramona Cerda, his daughter Melissa Carbajal and grandchildren Clara, Vicente and Mateo, his son Ricky, his brother Randy Cerda and his niece Vicky, his half-brother Neno Cerda, his cousins Renee Cerda, Ray Cerda Jr., Michelle Passariello, Victoria Cerda Robertson, and Jennifer Cerda Hardesty. He will also be missed by many of his friends from High School and from the Air Force. Ron is preceded in death by his father Ronald Cerda, his mother Janet Boulais, and his son Brian Cerda.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery 5810 Midway Rd. Dixon CA.
There will also be a Celebration of Ronâ€™s Life held at Buds Pub & Grill 100 S First St. Dixon CA.
