Kathryn A Lenz - Yukon Intermediate Retired Teacher
July 1, 1923 - April 7, 2013
KATHRYN A. LENZ, age 89 of Rollin Township, Hudson, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the home of her niece, Lynne Renner & husband Rodney & family, where she had resided for the past 6 months.
Kathryn was born on July 1, 1923, in Pentwater, MI, to Frank R. and Olvie E. (Wieber) Lenz. Her family moved to the Morenci area, where Kathryn graduated from Morenci High School in 1937. The years following, she graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill in 1946, Northwestern University in Minneapolis, MN in 1951, Siena Heights College, in Adrian, MI in 1957, and Pepperdine College in CA in 1962. Her degrees were in Education and Philosophy and her love was to become a missionary, although her health would not permit. Eventually, she was offered a teaching career in the Hawthorne School District in CA, where she taught the Intermediate Grades for 27 years. Upon retiring, Kathryn moved to Oceanside, CA where she lived until moving back to MI to live with her loving family.
Kathryn never married. Her life was consumed with love for the Lord and telling others about Him. She never missed an opportunity to explain the Way of Salvation to everyone she met.
Survivors include one brother; Jim (Barbara) Lenz of Ypsilanti, sisters-in-law; Billie Lenz of Niles, Shirley (Jim) Lindau of Wamplers Lake, seven nieces and nephews; Terry (Pam) Lenz of Saginaw, Tom (Gretchen) Lenz of Edwardsburg, MI. Lynne (Rod) Renner of Hudson, Jocelyn (Doug) Kalitta of Saline, Dale (Kathy) Campbell, Sr. of Stanton, MI, Jeff Lenz of Northport, FL, Brian (Renee) Lenz of Brighton, twelve great-nieces and nephews and three great-great-nieces and nephews, of whom Ava, was the apple of her eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; Richard (Dick) Lenz, a sister; Nancy, in infancy, a niece; Susie and a great-nephew; Jason.
Kathryn leaves many special dear friends over the years. To mention a few of her dearest from CA and whom she spoke to daily by phone are; Cynthia Schlosser, Myra 'Dude' White, Gladys Funk, Rick & Linda Daugherty.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with Pastor Ron Sparks officiating. Burial will take place in the Canandaigua Cemetery, Canandaigua, MI. The visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday.
