Officiant Pastor Rebecca Best
Riverside National Cemetery
Standing up in the midst of indescribable grief is a frightening experience. Hoping to provide words of love, hope and wisdom that do not sound trite and superficial with intimacy is an awesome task.
Pastor Rebecca Best was the Perfect Choice in Officiating Sharon Mufid (Michail) Poublon's Memorial Service. Together Rebecca and I collaborated in the sacred task of describing Sharon to family and friends in grief. Rebecca wanted to do right. I wanted it done right.
Rebecca knew Sharon's Cousin Mariam Michail in junior high school (best of friends), but did not know Sharon personally. Rebecca has battled cancer too, making her able to relate to what Sharon had gone through. Rebecca wanted the service to be laced with Sharon's unique individuality. She wanted to call us to worship with words of comfort, prayers and passages. She wanted to remind us to rely on God for strength, to remember Our Faith in The Lord Jesus Christ and his promise of salvation.
Everything Pastor Rebecca talked about was personal, relevant and sincere. She weaved powerful words and passages into a petition for God's Guidance and God's Presence. She addressed why we were there; to Mourn Our Loss, to Celebrate Sharon's Life and to Proclaim Our Faith.
I never had any doubt that the right minister for the job was chosen to officiate. To my dear friend Rebecca Best from the bottom of our hearts on behalf of The Poublons and The Michails, Thank You for bringing us closer together. You were more than adequate. You were perfect...
