Leuzinger High School Class of 1981 - Lou Gehrig's Disease
I posted a tribute to Terry (Ted) Marshall '76. Ted had ALS - amyotrophic lateral sclerosis - commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. For those who suffer from ALS, it is the ultimate race for life. ALS is a degenerative disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. The disease affects people differently. It progresses from minor muscle weakness to slurred speech and weakness in the arms and legs to paralysis. There is no cure. The challenge Ted faced, he faced with courage. Our alumni are very private people. It is understandable. However, I encourage those with ALS or any illness to be open to the love, prayers and support of your friends. God Bless and May He Be With You Always.
